Publications

The main publication of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Malta, is the “Malta Missjunarja” – a 32 page magazine, professionally illustrated, full of information of the Catholic Missions Worldwide.

Having a section for children, the publication is suitable for all ages and its subscribers range from primary school students to elderly people.

The magazine was first introduced in September 1932, but due to political reasons, in November 1978, the name had to be changed to “Knisja Missjunarja”. The new name lasted 25 years, as in February 2003, it was reverted to its original name – “Malta Missjunarja”. The September 2007 edition has marked the magazine’s 75th Anniversary. In October 2009 the magazine underwent a change of image which includes an 8-page section dedicated to children. This addition accomodates comics, competitions, and even a segment on how money is being used in the missions.

The magazine is issued once monthly and the annual subscription fee is of € 7.50 (rate based on local postage). Children can subscribe by paying € 3.00 which cover the scholastic year, comprising 9 months and in this case, the magazine is delivered to the respective school.
